Review by hotel critic
When staying at Gallery Nozawa Inn in Central Kyoto, I had the pleasure of experiencing true Japanese hospitality in a traditional Kyo-machiya house. The warm and welcoming hosts, Yamadamorio and Yoshiko, made me feel like a valued guest in their home, going above and beyond to ensure my comfort and enjoyment. Their attention to detail, from offering tourist tips to providing delicious Japanese breakfasts, truly exemplified the essence of omotenashi. The cozy rooms, like the spacious "Miruiro no Nami" with 10 tatami mats, were meticulously maintained, offering a glimpse into Kyoto's rich heritage. The shared bathroom facilities were always impeccably clean, and the peaceful ambiance of the north garden with a tranquil pond added a touch of serenity to my stay.My days began with exquisite Japanese breakfasts featuring seasonal ingredients, lovingly prepared by Yoshiko. The flavors were a delight to the palate, a true reflection of Kyoto's culinary excellence. Grandpa and grandma's warm hospitality extended to daily housekeeping, laundry assistance, and even helpful tips for navigating the city.Located within walking distance of public baths and spa facilities, Gallery Nozawa Inn offered a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Whether enjoying the intimate tea room Hitotei or exploring Central Kyoto's bustling streets, every moment in this charming guesthouse felt like a glimpse into the soul of Japan's cultural capital. For travelers seeking an authentic Kyoto experience, Gallery Nozawa Inn is a hidden gem worth discovering. The attentive care, traditional charm, and genuine warmth of the hosts create a memorable stay that transcends mere accommodation, making it a must-visit destination for those who value immersion in local traditions and heartfelt hospitality.
